We are recruiting a Youth Engagement Officer!
The Youth Engagement Officer will lead on embedding youth voice across We Make Culture’s programmes. This includes establishing and facilitating a Youth Panel (or similar), coordinating feedback from young participants,improving communication of progression opportunities, and supporting programme administration and events.
This is an entry-level role with a leadership element, funded through the Rank Foundation’s Time to Shine programme. It is for people who are currently unemployed or underemployed.
Rank Foundation defines “underemployed” as: ‘an individual working below their current skillset or training. For example, we have leaders who have successfully moved from retail into youth work or social media roles. The prospective leader will not currently be in substantive employment; they can be employed but the new role must have significantly increased responsibility.”

Job title: Youth Engagement Officer
Salary: £24,479 per year (based on the Real Living Wage)
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). Evening and weekend working is a key part of this role.
Holidays: 28 days per year
Contract: Fixed term (13th April 2026 – 13th April 2027)
Location: Based at WMC office (central Sunderland) and home working. We operate a flexible working model, with regular team office days typically Tuesday - Thursday. This role includes attending WMC sessions in community locations.
