Hendon Young Musicians Project offers music-making sessions for young people, aged 8-16, living in the Hendon area of Sunderland. It has been developed in partnership with Back on the Map and it takes place at Elliott House every Wednesday, during term time.

We are returning to Back on the Map’s Elliot House from 17th September 2025 and we will be running two sessions every Wednesday from 3:30-7pm (term time):

  •  Hendon Singing Club: Wednesday 3:30-4.45pm. Singing club for 8-11 year olds (primary school). Sing all your favourite songs in a group with friends! No experience necessary and a chance to meet other young people who love to sing. Note children attending this session must be collected by their caregiver/responsible adult.

  • Hendon Music Project: Wednesday 5-6:45pm. Music Project for 11-16 year olds (secondary school). A chance to work with other young people to have a go at playing an instrument, singing your favourite songs and songwriting. No experience necessary.

Sessions are free to attend and will be led by musician Lesley Roley. Music experience isn’t necessary - whether you want to give playing an instrument a go, or learn how to write a song, we will be on hand to help you!

Location: Elliott house, Mainsforth Terrace W, Sunderland, SR2 8JX.
