Our work in schools

In September 2019, we began working at Seaburn Dene Primary School with their Year 5 pupils.

Project musicians Marty Longstaff and Beccy Young led songwriting sessions with the students, exploring their feelings and thoughts about their local area, and supporting them to write a new school anthem, Wear All Together.

Designed together with class teacher Abbie Houston, the focus of the project was on raising students’ confidence, pride and aspiration, as well as developing music and songwriting skills. The new school song was performed by the musicians and students in a school assembly.

Our work at Seaburn Dene was cut short, due to COVID-19, but we hope to get back into the classroom as soon as possible.

You can read about our project in Sunderland Echo.

I loved working on the songwriting because it let us in Year 5 express our inner feelings with a song.
